AUS vs IND Preview

In this 9 days break between the second and the third test, plenty of off field talks have been making headlines. The 3rd AUS vs IND Test begins tomorrow at Sydney Cricket Ground and we bring you AUS vs IND Dream11 Team Prediction which is a preview post for the third test based on boosting your chances of winning in fantasy cricket.

  • Match Venue : Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG)
  • Match Time : 05:00 AM IST | 11:30 PM GMT

Australia Team News

Australia must have never expected a comeback like that from India at MCG after rolling them over at 36 only in Adelaide. Batting has been their biggest area of concern where they have crossed 200 marks only once in 3 innings. And to add some strength to the weak batting, Australia have included a not 100% fit David Warner along with Will Pucovski who will open the batting with him.

Among the rest of the squad, either of Travis Head or Cameron Green will be dropped for Pucovski while Warner will replace Joe Burns. Since Green adds a bowling option, Head is likely to be axed. Matthew Wade will be able to save his position.

Players to pick from Australia

  • Steve Smith : Out of all the Australian venues, Smith probably has his lowest average at SCG where he averages 68 with a couple of 100s. He has had a quiet series but great players can not be kept quiet for long.
  • Marnus Labuschagne : Labuschagne too has had a quiet series, just like Smith but at least he has got the starts and he might start converting those starts in this Test. He’d have fond memories of this ground as he had scored a 215 here last year.
  • Pat Cummins : The number one Test match bowler has quite a record at SCG, where he has picked up 12 wickets at an average of 24. He is a must in your Dream11 Team.
  • Nathan Lyon : Lyon hasn’t had a great series so far but if there is one Australian venue he’d choose to bowl at the rest of his life, it’d be SCG. The spin favoring conditions make him a threat for the opponents here and a value for your fantasy team.

India Team News

India just gave everyone a motivation to get through the hardest of times without getting bogged down when they won the Test match at SCG. However, there has been plenty of off field chatters to disturb their preparations for the 3rd Test but they’d be happy to have Rohit Sharma back who will open the batting replacing Mayank Agarwal.

The other change India has made is a forced change which brings Navdeep Saini in the 11. He will make his debut and replace the injured Umesh Yadav from the last match.

Players to pick from India

  • Cheteshwar Pujara : Pujara has been kept quiet by the Australians in this series but this pitch will suit his style of batting and hence we are expecting him to score in this Test match.
  • Jasprit Bumrah :  Bumrah has been the best fast bowler from Indian team in this series with 8 wickets in 2 games at an average of 23. You can’t overlook him while making fantasy team.
  • R Ashwin : Often seen as a competitor of Nathan Lyon, Ashwin has outbowled him in this series up until this point and this pitch at SCG will suit his style of bowling even more, particularly in the last inning where he’d be more threatening.
  • Rishabh Pant : Pant adds extra value added points to the fantasy and will be the most useful option among wicket keepers if he gets going.
  • Shubman Gill : Gill made his debut at MCG and looked solid in both the innings. Expect him to continue his good form at SCG too.
  • Ajinkya Rahane : Indian captain and the centurion from last game might be a risk in fantasy as you never know if he will be able to repeat that performance but it’s very hard to ignore his selection.
  • Ravindra Jadeja : There was a tough fight between Jadeja and Siraj for this spot but as we expect ball to turn at SCG, Jadeja could prove to be more useful than Siraj.

Other Fantasy options from both sides

Australia : Josh Hazlewood, David Warner

India : Rohit Sharma, Mohd Siraj

Australia vs India Pitch Report

The SCG pitch often turns a lot in the 3rd and 4th innings. Looking at the few early pictures of the pitch, what one can read is that it will assist the pacers with the new ball because of the grass. However, since the color of the pitch is brownish and not greenish, it will become better to bat once the ball gets old.

And following the tradition, it should spin in the second innings of both sides which will make Lyon, Ashwin and Jadeja very interested.

AUS vs IND Dream11 Team

AUS vs IND Preview

Australia came from behind to defeat India in a dramatic manner in the Adelaide Test as they bundled out Indian team on just 36 in the second inning. However, it’s time for both the teams to move on from that amazing test and focus on this Boxing Day Test which starts on 26th December at 5 AM Indian standard time. The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the match. In this article, we give you the best suited AUS vs IND Dream11 Team along with fantasy tips to make sure you win and earn a lot of money in fantasy cricket.

Australia Team News

Australian coach Justin Langer has confirmed that the Aussies will go unchanged in the second Test. Read more of it here :

Australia going unchanged in the Boxing Day Test, expects Warner to be fit for the 3rd Test, India monitoring Jadeja’s fitness

However, the Aussies would be worried about their batting which faltered in the first inning of Adelaide Test. If there is one venue they’d have loved to play at, to correct their batting mistakes, it would’ve been MCG.

Players to pick from Australia

  • Steve Smith : Smith had a quiet test at Adelaide but now he returns to a venue where he averages 113.
  • Marnus Labuschagne : Labuschagne has a fair share of success at MCG. Although not as much as Smith, but he had scored a 50 there against New Zealand last summer.
  • Josh Hazlewood :  Who can forget his 5-8 in Adelaide? Even though he struggles at MCG, you can’t just look beyond him in Australian conditions.
  • Pat Cummins : He is the number one bowler in Test cricket right now and has enjoyed bowling at MCG. In the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he had taken 6-27 in the second inning of the Test match played here.
  • Nathan Lyon : Just like Smith, Lyon too had a quiet test at Adelaide but at MCG, he has set a decent record where he has taken 31 wickets in 9 Tests.
  • Cameron Green : Despite the failure at Adelaide, Green can be a very impactful player in this series. He already scored a ton in the practice match.
  • Tim Paine : Australian captain is coming on the back off a Man of the Match Performance in Adelaide.

India Team News

India have made quite a few changes into their playing 11. Obviously with Kohli gone for the rest of the tour, Rahane will lead the side. Prithvi Shaw has been dropped and Shubman Gill has replaced him. Either of Gill or Vihari will open. If Vihari open, Gill will play at 4 but in case of Gill opening, which is more likely to happen, Rahane will bat at 4 followed by Vihari and Rishabh Pant who has replaced Wriddhiman Saha.

Ravindra Jadeja has also come in the side proving his fitness while Mohammad Siraj has replaced injured Mohammed Shami. After a long time, the pair of Jadeja and Ashwin would play together in an overseas Test match.

Players to pick from India

  • Cheteshwar Pujara : The player of the series in the last Border Gavaskar Trophy, Pujara will be the main man in the series. Pujara had scored a 100 in the last Boxing Day Test India had played at MCG.
  • Jasprit Bumrah :  Bumrah too was successful at MCG on the last tour as he had taken 6 wickets in the first inning of that Test.
  • R Ashwin : Often Ashwin’s wicket taking ability outside Asia gets doubted but he started the series well with a 4fer in Adelaide. However, his main challenge would be to continue the good start which he often fails to do.
  • Mayank Agarwal : Agarwal had kickstarted his Test career right here at MCG where he had scored a beautiful 70 odd in the 1st inning. He’d enjoy batting on this surface.
  • Rishabh Pant : Pant has finally been picked in the side. He’d be keen to cement his place in at least the Test side.
  • Shubman Gill : Gill will make his debut at MCG and just like Mayank, thi venue can kickstart his Test career too.

Australia vs India Pitch Report

The Melbourne pitch has often been the easiest pitch to bat according to the Test match standards. In recent times, a lot of batsmen have gone on to score 100s, even 200s on this wicket. Even though shot making is not easy here due to the slow pace, batsmen like Pujara or Smith who play patience game can go up to score big runs here.

The pitch in Sydney was absolute batting paradise during the one dayers but it might not be the case in the T20s too as the pitch must have got tired after 2 consecutive ODIs in 3 days. However, you can still expect batsmen to dominate the game.
