Since Rising Pune Supergiant announced the sacking of their legendary captain MS Dhoni who ought to be the most successful skipper of India, many people are busy in the nonstop bashing of the franchise owners and their newly elected captain Australian Steve Smith. But now Steve’s father Peter has come forward to comment on this hot matter.
“It is a great privilege to be asked to captain any side. The Supergiant franchise has a number of good international and Indian players and it would be very exciting to have the opportunity to lead them. The decision to replace MS Dhoni with Steven is one made by the franchise owners and not a decision on which I should comment,” Peter Smith said.
Dhoni captained Chennai Super Kings for eight years on trot and each single time they qualified for knockouts. He made them the most consistent and most successful team of the tournament. He even led his new side RPS in the ninth edition of IPL but not anymore, courtesy RPS team owners.
But Peter Smith acted like an intelligent person and didn’t commented much on why Steve was chose as a captain over Dhoni. He only said that it is totally management’s decision and Steve has nothing to do with it. They gave him the opportunity themselves.
Anybody who has a little knowledge of cricket knows the value of Dhoni as a tactical captain more than an aggressive one and Peter Smith is no exception. He says, “MS Dhoni has a vast wealth of experience in the IPL and international cricket. I am sure he will be one of the senior players on whom Steven will rely for tactical input throughout the game.”
Because of these wise comments from Steve’s father, the matter will become a lot cooler than before. Since Smith has been named the captain of the RPS franchise owners, there is a rage in MS Dhoni and Indian cricket fans on this matter. And they have started to hate the Aussie captain because of this.
