On the final day of the Big Bash League, Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar will be seen in a new role when he will return to the cricket field as a coach of the team which will be captained by Aussie legend and his fierecest competitor in his playing days, Ricky Ponting. The two teams to play the game are named as Ponting XI and Warne XI.
This match will be a curtain raiser to the Big Bash final which will be played on the same day. Apart from that, it’s main and larger objective is to raise fund to help Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund which is trying to restore the life to normalcy after Australian Bushfires killed thousands of innocent animals and destroyed vegetation. The charity game will also be played to thank the volunteers and firefighters for their role in dealing with the devastating bushfires causing a lot of collateral damage to the country.
Sachin Tendulkar will coach Ponting XI whereas Courtney Walsh has the role of coaching Warne XI. The event includes other legends as well. Adam Gilchrist, Michael Clarke, Alex Blackwell, Brett Lee and Shane Watson are the confirmed local focus of attraction while Brian Lara and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are expected to play the game as well. However, their participation is not confirmed yet.
Confirming Sachin’s presence as coach, Ricky Ponting shared the news from his Twitter account. He was absolutely elated to confirm Sachin’s participation as a coach, more so because he (Tendulkar) was coaching his own team. Not just Ricky Ponting but the entire Australian community was delighted to have the Master for this game.

There will be a triple header on 8th February with Indian women taking on Australian Women in an International match along with the BBL Final and this scheduled Bushfires match. Although the venue for this match hasn’t been decided yet but most likely it will be played at either Melbourne Cricket Ground or Sydney Cricket Ground.
