In the 19th match of IPL 2020, the Royal Challengers from Bangalore takes on Delhi Capitals. Both these teams have been in fine form in the first half of the tournament which is why both of them are in top half of the points table. Although over the years, RCB has dominated Delhi and the head to head records of 14-8 in favour of RCB proves this fact but in 2019, it was DC who emerged victorious on both the occasions. Along with the main battle, there will be few battles within the battle too which we call players battle and we take a look at 3 of those in this article.
Virat Kohli vs R Ashwin
In all these seasons, Virat Kohli has never got out to Ravichandran Ashwin and whether Ashwin has his first laugh today or not will be an exciting thing to watch. Although Kohli vs Rabada would be a more hyped battle given the class of both the players, but considering that Kohli will come at 3 and will bat in the middle overs, he will be facing more balls of Ashwin. RCB captain has scored 154 runs against Ashwin in the 116 balls he has faced bowled by him without getting out one single time. So far so good for Kohli as he has dominated this battle but there is always a first time for something.
AB de Villiers vs Kagiso Rabada
It would be a battle between two fellow countrymen carrying their responsibilities for their respective teams in the competition. AB de Villiers is the main pillar of RCB bowling while Delhi’s bowling revolves around Kagiso Rabada. Both these South Africans won’t have much opportunities to have a go at each other during the death overs only. Rabada so far has an excellent record against AB as he has dismissed AB twice in just 8 balls giving away 9 runs but the sample size is very short to say who has dominated whom. Rabada is in excellent form even this season getting wickets in every game but his figures of 1-51 in last game may have done some damage to his confidence.
He will have a big role to play during powerplay as RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal has been giving them good starts continuously this season which DC would surely have to avoid today.
Shreyas Iyer vs Yuzvendra Chahal
The third battle to watch out today is the contest between RCB best bowler Yuzvendra Chahal who happens to be a spinner against Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer who is one of the finest players of spin bowling in the country. Chahal has so far taken 8 wickets in IPL 2020 while Iyer too has been among the runs so both of them have got their season off and running. However, in all these seasons, it is Shreyas Iyer who has had an edge over RCB leggie as the right hander has scored 63(39) against Chahal without getting dismissed even once. Chahal vs Pant will also be a contest to watch as the swash-buckling left hander too has good records against the cunning leggie but Chahal is in form of his life at the moment and hence, one can expect Yuzi Chahal to turn things around today.
