Cricketing world saw a whole new level of pessimism and disappointment when the president of Bangladesh Cricket Board Nazmul Hassan publicly went on to say that he has no hopes from his team that they would be able to win the match against Zimbawe.
He also told his team to not take Zimbawe lightly by any means.
“The way they (Bangladesh) are playing , I don’t get to see any hope in my mind of winning the Test. If you take them lightly it will be a disaster because Zimbabwe remains in their place but we are not in our place. ” – Nazmul Hassan told the media 2 days before the Test begins.
Bangladesh hasn’t been in the best of forms in red ball cricket off late. They have lost their last 6 Tests on the bounce. Out of which 5 have been innings defeat with the latest one coming against Afghanistan at home. Hassan reminded them of their performance against Afghanistan.
“If anyone asked what the worst performance Bangladesh did , it came against Afghanistan. If we can lose to Afghanistan, we can also lose to Zimbabwe. “
He urged the senior players to take more responsibility otherwise even a minnow team like Zimbawe can come and beat them.
Bangladesh and Zimbawe are scheduled to play One Test, three ODIs and two T20Is. The tour will start with both teams indulging in the first Test in Dhaka which will begin on 22nd Feb. Surely, such kind of statements can spread negativity across the team camp and can put pressure on the players.
