For the first time in this IPL, two arch rivals CSK and KKR lock horns today. Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have had some intense and fierce rivalry over these years which also includes the final of IPL 2012 which was won by KKR eventually. Their overall head to head record is 13-7 in the favour of CSK with CSK beating KKR in both the games last season. Today they take on each other once again and in this article, we look at the three exciting players battle among the players of both these teams.
Andre Russell vs Dwayne Bravo
Dre Russ and the Birthday boy Dwayne Bravo have played with and against each other in a lot of matches over the world in all these years which is why their match-up has got a massive sample size. Bravo is also back in CSK playing 11 after injury while Russell is always due for a big one after his early failure in the league. Bravo has bowled 129 balls to him which equals to 21 overs and 3 balls and in these 21 and a half overs, he has dismissed him 6 times but Russell too has scored 265 runs against him with a strike rate of over 200. He has also hit him for 20 sixes in these 21.3 overs which is a heavy domination. The stats show we have got a clear winner which is Andre Russell and we bet on him to dominate the contest yet again today.
Shubman Gill vs Deepak Chahar
Although the sample size is very small, even from the small size one can infer that KKR opener Shubman Gill loves playing against CSK which is why he would also be our player to watch out for in today’s contest. He has an average of 40.50 against the men in yellow. However, if there is anyone who can cause him some trouble at start, it is Deepak Chahar. He gets the ball to move in the first couple of overs which might produce an edge somewhere from Gill’s bat. They haven’t played each other much previously as the elegant right hander has faced only 4 balls off Deepak Chahar yet you could expect a mouth watering contest between these two up front.
Shane Watson vs Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine may not be having his most impactful IPL season as yet but with all his experience, you could expect him to have a little more impact against Shane Watson – a batsman he has loved bowling to, and CSK – a side he has had good memories against in the past. Narine has schooled both Watson and Dhoni in the one vs one battle and even though Narine vs Dhoni will also be an exciting battle, we will focus on only Narine vs Watson in this article. The spinner has got him 7 times in 60 balls while the batsman has only been able to score 69 runs against him. If Watson survives the spell of Cummins, he will be properly challenged by Narine. However, if these two don’t get to have a go at each other, watch out for Dhoni vs Narine. Dhoni has a strike rate of only 50 against him in 76 balls.
