IPL 2020 : MS Dhoni sparks criticism with his ” Spark ” comment after the defeat against Rajasthan Royals

Chennai Super Kings faced yet another defeat in the IPL 2020 last night when Rajasthan Royals chased down the small target of 126 with 15 balls to spare. That loss has pushed them to the bottom of the points table and with just four matches left for them in this campaign, a redemption looks possible but extremely difficult. However, the talking point after the match was MS Dhoni’s comment in the post match presentation where he was highly critical of his players, particularly youngsters.

When asked about the playing combination of his team, he answered :

“You don’t want to chop and change. Insecurity is something you don’t want to prevail in the dressing room. Fair enough, this season we weren’t really there,”

Also the youngsters, we didn’t see the spark to push the guys. But what this result has done is give those youngsters a chance in the rest of the tournament. Maybe going forward we bring them in and they play without pressure.”

In a nutshell, Dhoni meant to say that he didn’t give too many chances to young players because they didn’t show enough promise to make a case for themselves. It was a bizarre statement considering Kedar Jadhav has only scored 62 runs in 8 matches this season with the strike rate of 94 only. Fans asked what spark did Kedar Jadhav show to get so much backing from the team. Here is how Dhoni landed himself into trouble after his comment.
