With IPL season 10 just about to commence, here we are presenting you the previews of all the teams which will consist of their strengths and weaknesses,so that you can get a fair enough idea about what to expect from this season of Indian premier league.
Delhi Daredevils (DD):-
Delhi has always been a darkhorse of the tournament. It won’t be inappropriate if we call this team as a team of “youngsters”. Only it’s captain Zaheer Khan and Angelo Mathews have played a fair bit of international cricket.
The team was looking in good shape after the auction but the injuries to couple of its premier batsmen DeKock and Duminy has notched up it’s chances to some extent meanwhile, it has given players like Iyer, Karun , Samson, and Pant more responsiblity to build the innings along with the overseas youngsters like Billings, Mohammed Shahzad ( who has come up as a replacement of DeKock) and Mathews. Earlier, the batting used to revolve around DeKock and Duminy.
Team’s bowling looks very strong both in fast bowling and spin bowling with the likes of experienced pro and captain Zaheer Khan and young speedsters Mohammad Shami, Rabada and Pat Cummins who have done exceedingly well for their countries at such young age. Spinners like Mishra who is a force to reckon with in this format will get good support from young and talented spinners Jayant Yadav who impressed everyone in recent Indian domestic season and Shahbaz Nadeem who was the leading wicket taker in Ranji season 2016-17.
Team is fortunate enough to get some good all rounders like Mathews, Corey Anderson , Chris Morris and ” a name to remember – Carlos Braithwaite” who can turn the game into their favour in a moment.
Now let’s look at some of the weaknesses which the team possesses.
Team lacks some experienced heads in batting department, yes the batsmen are young and talented but you still need some experienced campaigners to get you out of trouble in pressure situations.
Team’s continuous changing and chopping was one of the reasons why it couldn’t make it to playoffs despite looking favourite at one stage. Team management took some strange decisions of resting the man of the match in next games ( in some matches) which was out of the blue. T20 is a game of momentum and once you lose it you are unlikely to deliver.
Delhi will play it’s first match on 8th April against RCB at Chinnaswamy.
