Inter Milan are planning to sell veteran Uruguay defender Diego Godin, as there are too many defenders on the bench already.
Diego Godin’s contract with Inter Milan is actually still quite long, until June 2022. But according to a recent report from Corriere dello Sport, the exit from Giuseppe Meazza is wide open for the 34-year-old defender.
Once a mainstay in the back line of Inter Milan, Godin’s position was later taken over by Alessandro Bastoni, and as a result, the defender from Uruguay sat more on the bench.
Not only that, Godin’s fate became even more uncertain after previously saying he was uncomfortable with the formation of three defenders. Although this is considered a rumour, the fact remains that this is the strongest reason for Godin’s departure.
Currently Manchester United and Valencia are two clubs interested in using the services of Godin. Even specifically for The Reds Devils, as they have been trying to bring Godin since the beginning of last season, even when they were beaten by Inter Milan.
Inter Milan does not need to worry about a substitute. Apart from the fact that Alessandro Bastoni has begun to mature, the Nerazzurri have now prepared several substitute players, one of them Marash Kumbulla from Hellas Verona.
The 20-year-old Albanian player is ready to be released at a price of 20 million Euros. In addition to being very young, Kumbulla is considered as an ideal replacement for Godin because of his fairly good experience of playing in the format of three defenders.
