In the tonight’s IPL encounter, Chennai Super Kings locks horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad. These two sides have not really had any neck and neck rivalry in terms of results but this south Indian derby is a very underrated one. However, CSK has had a very dominant record against SRH in this rivalry. They have won 9 and lost only 3 matches to them and one of those 9 wins came in the final of 2018 IPL. However, in this article we take a look at the exciting players battle among players involved today.
Rashid Khan vs Shane Watson
Rashid Khan is surely a brilliant T20 bowler and he showed his class in the last match against Delhi Capitals where he won the Player of The Match award. He is a champion bowler but he has been one such whenever he has faced Shane Watson from CSK. Watson has dominated him both statistically and mentally in their battle. Statistically, Watson has scored 90 runs in the 63 balls he has faced from Rashid without getting dismissed for once. Mentally, everyone saw their battle in IPL 2019 where verbals and gestures were exchanged between these two. We gear up for another big battle between the two of these but Watson will need to survive the powerplay phase for that to happen.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar vs MS Dhoni
Much like how Rashid vs Watson has been, Dhoni against Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been an equally dominant force no matter how good a bowler Bhuvi has been in T20 cricket. In all the past battles, Dhoni has faced 49 balls bowled by Bhuvi to him and he has scored 87 runs on those 49 balls without getting dismissed for once. Who can forget their clash in IPL 2017 where even an out of form Dhoni had scored 43 runs off his 17 balls therefore winning his side the game in a close clash. This year too Dhoni has looked in an ordinary touch and if he comes to bat when it is not too late, Dhoni vs Bhuvi could be a good contest.
David Warner vs Deepak Chahar
Who will prevail in the battle of Ds is our third contest to watch out for. Sunrisers opener David Warner hasn’t got himself going in the tournament yet and today could be one of those days. He has looked good for a big one in last 2 games but has failed to capitalize on the good start. In this pursuit of scoring runs, he will be challenged by CSK new ball bowler Deepak Chahar who has not had an impressive IPL himself but has an even record against the left hander. Warner has scored 37 runs against the 28 balls he has faced off his bowling and he has got out to him once. With the swing pretty much non existent, Warner will start as favourite in this contest.
