BCCI President Sourav Ganguly adds to confusion on Dhoni being excluded from BCCI’s annual contract list

The news of Indian stalwart Mahendra Singh Dhoni being snubbed from the annual contract list of BCCI has been doing the rounds among cricket and Dhoni fans. Dhoni, who hasn’t played any form of Cricket since the World Cup Semifinal in July 2019 was earlier excluded from the annual contract list released by BCCI which is something that generated different reactions from former cricketers and fans. A lot of them said it was the end of MS Dhoni, among which Indian off spinner Harbhajan Singh was the most prominent face.

According to Harbhajan, he doesn’t see the road ahead of MS Dhoni now and even a good IPL season won’t be able to revive his international career.

What mattered the most was the statement of BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly. Being the most authoritative person in Indian cricket administration, fans, especially Dhoni fans wanted to hear some positive news coming from Dada’s mouth but unfortunately he decided to disappoint them by staying quiet on this issue. Sourav Ganguly refused to comment when he was asked about it.

I can’t comment on this ” – Sourav Ganguly was quoted by The Quint

Ganguly’s silence is further going to add fuel to the fire. The rumors of Dhoni’s retirements is only going to strengthen with Ganguly deciding to stay quiet over the issue. However, amidst the rumors of his retirement, Dhoni started training with Jharkhand Ranji Team showing his strong intentions of a possible comeback in the Indian team.

Earlier Ravi Shastri in an interview had said that all the chances of Dhoni making it to Indian WT20 squad is open if he performs well in the upcoming season of IPL. Shastri and Ganguly have hardly been on the same page and even though Ganguly refused to say anything, the silence shows this is just another incident of their contrasting opinions.
