The fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League which happens to be the premier domestic T20 League of Bangladesh is just around the corner. The tournament will begin on 4th November in Sylhet and a total of 46 matches will be played across 7 different venues among 7 teams to complete the league on Dec, 12. The auction took place just a month ago and with some interesting signings, the season promises to be bigger and better. With just a couple of days to go for the tournament, we bring you all the team’s preview so that you don’t have to scratch your head thinking about the abilities of different teams. Our last team on this list is Comila Victorians.
The 2015 champions didn’t have a very fruitful season in 2016 where they finished second last despite all the armouries in their kitty. The season had ended on a very sour note however, they would like to make amends for that when they’ll start this season but they’ve faced a major setback before even the start of the season when they lost their captain and best batsman Tamim Iqbal for a couple of weeks or might even more. Imrul Kayes has been made the interim captain in his absence.
The Victorians look a real threatening side with them having most specialist players instead of players who are bits and pieces. Even without Tamim Iqbal, the batting looks very promising though most of the batsmen who will play in middle overs have low strike rate even in this format of the game. Big hitters start from in form Shoaib Malik and Jos Buttler who can milk any kind of bowling on a given day. Marlon Samuels, Darren Bravo and Liton Das take a while to get going and that’s the area Victorians will have to discuss sooner than later.
If you say Comila Victorians have got the most lethal bowling attack in the tournament, then you’re not exaggerating anything. Most of their bowlers are in form which definitely makes their bowling unit very tough to get away. Hasan Ali has been in some kind of form in limited overs cricket while Rashid Khan has been unplayable in most of the T20 leagues around the earth. To provide them support, Victorians have got Mohammad Nabi, Rumman Raees ,Mehedi Hasan and Al-Amin Hossain who can walk into any team as lead bowlers. All in all, team has got a strong Squad and all they’ll be hoping is a quick recovery of Tamim Iqbal. Watch out for Comila Victorians, they’re here to improve their numbers this time.
