With the help of a scintillating maiden T20 hundred for Sanju Samson of Kerala, Delhi Daredevils thrashed Rising Pune Supergiant in their own backyard in the match number 9 of VIVO Indian Premier League 2017.
Chris Morris and bowlers also helped them to humiliate Ajinkya Rahane’s men beating them by a huge margin of 97 runs. This the biggest win in terms of runs for DD in their IPL history. DD Captain Zaheer Khan and leg spinner Amit Mishra took 3 wickets each.
“Almost a perfect game, we needed that. This team has got plenty of potential, just need to back them. We just need to work on the processes. We have some good headache in our bowling, Shami, Rabada and Jayant are sitting out. It’s just about clicking during a match situation,” DD skipper said.
This DD side is a young unit which is full of young raw talent around the Indian domestic circuit as well as some great young overseas talent like Sam Billings and Pat Cummins. And that’s why Zaheer wants them to give their best in the fielding department so that they should look like a young side while doing their job on field.
Zaheer further added, “I have strong muscle memory I guess, the 92 Tests I have played has helped. The physiotherapists and trainers have worked a lot, I am enjoying my time. We have a young side, there’s plenty of energy around. We got a lot of things right in the first game, but this win will help us go a long way into the tournament.”
After playing some tough cricket in the unknown territories, the DD will be finally back on their home ground, Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. They will host in form Kings Eleven Punjab in their first home game of the tournament.
On the other hand, RPS must boost their morale to play an away game against strong at home Gujarat Lions at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
