The fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League is in it’s middle stage and all the teams are grinding their way out to get a spot in the playoffs. This season of BPL is yet to see some breathtaking knock however, there have been few brilliant knocks already including a fifty from Gayle and an attacking 78 from Ronchi. In this article, we are summarizing top 5 best batting performances from BPL across all seasons.
1. Sabbir Rahman
The young and supremely talented Bangladeshi batsman holds the record of highest individual score in the history of the tournament and it can’t come without him having a great day at the office. Sabbir while playing for Rajshahi Kings last year scored a brilliant 122 runs against Barisal Bulls. Those 122 runs came from just 61 balls at a strike rate of 200. Playing at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, Rahman hit 9 fours and equal number of sixes to destroy the Bulls attack.
2. Chris Gayle
No record in T20 cricket is ever complete without the mention of universe boss Chris Gayle. As his nickname, he’s universal in T20 records in different T20 leagues across the world. Chris Gayle has centuries in BPL and quite a few other good knocks too but here we are talking about his inning against Sylhet Royals in the second season of BPL which was played in 2013. Gayle, playing for Dhaka in Dhaka, scored 114 runs from just 51 balls at a strike rate of 223. The inning consisted of 5 balls and 12 massive sixes. Apart from that knock,he scored two centuries scoring 116 and 101 runs in the first season of the tournament.
3. Ahmed Shehzad
The talented Pakistani batsman has had a hot and cold international carrier so far in his life, famous for more his style and selfies, Shehzad has had some great moments in his cricketing career too including a breathtaking 100 in the inaugural season of BPL against Rajshahi Kings where he smashed 113 runs from just 49 balls for Barisal Bulls at a strike rate of 230 with 12 fours and 6 sixes. Once again, the venue of this historical knock was Dhaka and it was indeed a treat to watch.
4. Sikandar Raza
This is the most latest addition to the list, the Zimbabwe All-rounder who is playing for Chittagong Vikings absolutely bamboozled the Sylhet Sixers bowling attack. Chittagong Vikings need as many wins as they can get and after a good start, onus was on Raza to give them a good total and he did exactly the same. Raza scored 95 runs from only 45 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes in Chittagong. Courtesy his innings, Chittagong Vikings survive for another day.
5. Mohammad Nabi
Not quite a 100 but Nabi played a blinder of an inning last year when he shown glimpses of how much potential does he have as a batsman when he scored 87 from just 37 balls with 6 sixes and 6 fours. Playing for Chittagong Vikings in their home ground Chittagong, Nabi batted with a strike rate of 235 to give his team an important win against Rajshahi Kings.
